| PUBLIC
RELATIONS / Yahoo! Mobile Internet Café Program |
Yahoo! Inc., a global Internet provider, was looking for a way
to have a presence at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games without paying
Olympic-size sponsorship prices. Through the company’s Buzz
Marketing department, Yahoo! developed mobile Internet cafés
that would serve Internet content and free e-mail to visitors
during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. The challenge was to secure
several locations around high-profile Olympic venues to reach
as many people as possible, train the appropriate staff to run
the cafés and help execute the program. In conjunction
with Yahoo!’s national public relations efforts to promote
the cafés, Factory personnel contacted and pitched local
media about the program.
Factory PR efforts resulted in media placements focusing on
the mobile Internet café program including a live feed
during the FOX morning show. Through the joint efforts of Yahoo!
and The Fusion Factory staff, Yahoo! was able to maintain its
status as a global, well-recognized Internet provider while
helping people across the world communicate with one another.
